A REAR SUSPENSION AND DRIVE TRAIN SYSTEM

GUARANTEED TO TRANSFORM YOUR ELITE/ECLAT

These attractive four seater GT's can produce extraordinary cornering forces, especially when you consider they weigh around 1000lbs more than the early Elan. Nowadays they can be acquired at reasonable cost, but potential problems with suspension and final drive layout can make them unreliable.

The original rear suspension systems moves through two separate and conflicting arcs, causing the lower rear links to twist. The drive train is not entirely happy either since it, too, is committed to taking some of the suspension loads. If you plan to keep your Elite/Eclat, consider removing the bodyshell now and having the chassis converted to accept the Spyder Rear Conversion Kit.

This will virtually eliminate:

  • Premature tyre wear and universal joint replacement

  • Wheel bearing failure

  • Worn out diff bearings, leaking seals and oil soaked rear brakes

  • Broken 1/2" spindles which locate the lower links and diff to the chassis

Rediscover a reliable, thoroughly practical car with excellent handling and adjustable rear camber control.
