THE SPYDER REAR SUSPENSION AND DRIVETRAIN

CONVERSION TO SUIT THE FULL LOTUS EUROPA RANGE

A proven twin wishbone rear suspension and drivetrain system introduced in 1984 to fit all spaceframe Europas. This comprehensive conversion has proved extremely popular with owners who use their cars on a regular basis, since it transforms the Europa into a modern, reliable and stable mid-engined sportscar.

By relieving the motor and transaxle of all suspension, braking and cornering forces, gains in handling and reliability are immediately obvious.

Among the notable features of the Spyder conversion are:

  • Lightweight fabricated steel hub carriers with press fit rather than 'bonded-in' bearing location.

  • Wide-based, powder-coated lower rear wishbones manufactured in a flat -sided oval tubing provide accurate camber and toe control.

  • Rubber drive couplings complete with anti-surge/failsafe system allow lateral deflection (plunge)as the suspension rises and falls and provide a shock-absorbing cushion in the drivetrain, protecting the delicate transmission internals from snatch loadings.

  • Larger bearings are employed with a vastly improved sealing system - NOW the moisture is locked out and the bearings last for years.

  • Precision-ground EN8 bearing and hub spacers.

  • Chrome vanadium springs for correct and consistent ride height.

  • All rubber bushings and bolts supplied (and fitted, if necessary) for ease and speed of assembly.

  • New outboard and intermediate driveshafts supplied.
